Full Description:
The FIRST Stark Public Special Olympics Dinner-Dance-Raffle-Silent Auction Fundraiser is just about here--it's this Saturday--January 21st! It promises to be a fine evening with a choice meal, music, Nikolina from Q92 as emcee, dancing, silent auction, lots of raffles--including 50/50 raffles (don't want to miss out on that!), and door prizes!
All the fun will be held at the Eagles Hall, 306 West Main Street, Louisville, Ohio. Doors open at 6 p.m. with dinner starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 per couple or $30 for a single in advance.
Call 330-455-0754 to get your tickets today or volunteer to help with a donation or raffle item. Or mail: Stark Public Special Olympics, 254--19th St. N.W., Canton, Ohio 44709.
Stark Public Special Olympics teams consist of Stark County school-aged athletes up to age 21 that qualify for Special Olympics. Known as the "Royal Knights," they proudly wear uniforms of royal blue with white lettering or white with royal blue lettering. Athletes participate in basketball, track & field, tennis, gymnastics, powerlifting, bowling and ice skating.
Stark Public Special Olympics has been providing quality sports programs to athletes for over twenty years. Approximately 100 athletes throughout Stark County currently participate.
Stark Public Special Olympics is a non-profit, independent, volunteer-run organization dedicated to athletic training and fair competition for persons with mental retardation. Although affiliated with the Ohio Special Olympics and Special Olympics International, Stark Public Special Olympics has no sponsorship or affiliation with any specific school district, but significantly is open to ALL school-age athletes throughout Stark County.
Please call 330-455-0754 to get your tickets now before they're gone! Limited tickets are available, and they promise to sell out! So far WHBC, WKDD, Q92, and the Massillon Independent have all joined us in sharing the news! Won’t you join us, too?
The best part of the evening is that all proceeds go to a TERRIFIC cause--the "Stark Public" Special Olympics! Nothing is held back for so-called "administrative costs." Our programs are completely self-funded.
Your tax-deductible donations go strictly to paying for the local programs that mean so much to our local athletes!
The Stark Public Special Olympics athletes practice and participate in games in Ohio, nationally and internationally. They develop both their bodies and their minds through hard work, accomplishment, and teamwork.
Words can't describe how the character of an athlete is changed once they start believing in themselves and learn what they can accomplish. Stark Public Special Olympics has helped to make that happen.
I know, I've seen it happen with my daughter, Rachelle. She found that by putting her mind and heart toward a goal, she could do it! The difference in her self-esteem was immense.
Once you believe in yourself, others will also believe in you. Rachelle benefited from learning, doing, being part of a team, and finding out--"I can do it!" She glowed with the joy she found with newly-discovered pride in her abilities and the positive reinforcement she received from family, teammates and friends.
There's nothing like seeing those magical smiles with kids who work so hard and yet ask so little. Won't you help?
